“Green smoothies changed my life.”
That’s what my friend, Jennifer, told me a few weeks ago.
Work was stressful, she had injured her back and was unable to exercise, and although she had completely healthified her diet, she couldn’t seem to lose the last bit of weight.
Green smoothies to the rescue!
I had only just started drinking green smoothies myself, so was feeling pretty excited about sharing what I knew about how delicious and easy they were to incorporate into my life. Clearly my enthusiasm for the healthy green juice was contagious, Jennifer started drinking them the very next day.
Fast forward six months and she looks amazing! She credits the green smoothies.
It’s amazing how one small change can have a huge impact. As I write this, she and I are texting about how it’s hard to believe they’re so healthy because they taste like dessert! They really do!
If you have already incorporated green smoothies and juices in your life, then I don’t have to convert you, you already know all the benefits. I also don’t think I have to convince you that consuming more raw fruits and vegetables is good for you. Sure, we could have a discussion about how less fruit and sugar is better, but really, you should just started drinking them.
This is my favourite go-to smoothie recipe as it’s easy, delicious, and can be adjusted in many ways.
Do you have a favourite smoothie combo? Send the recipe! I love trying new combinations.
Don't like pineapple or mango? Pick another fruit(s). Don't like bananas? Add a cup of another fruit or vegetable. Don't like spinach or kale? Too bad. That's the whole point of a green smoothie.
- 2 cups of spinach, kale or both (I prefer spinach)
- 2 cups of water
- 1 or 2 bananas (to your taste preference)
- 1 cup of pineapple
- 1 cup of mango
- (Tip: I prefer using frozen fruit so I don't have to add ice)
- Blend spinach/kale with water first.
- Add remaining ingredients and blend.
